After thorough disinfection and preparation efforts, all 2,867 test sites in Beijing are ready for 49,225 students to take this year's national college entrance examination, also known as "Gaokao," said Li Yi, spokesperson of the Beijing municipal education commission.

Gaokao will begin on Tuesday and last four days in Beijing.

The organization of the crucial exam treats the life and health of every student, parent, and test administrators as the top priority, Li said.

There are 132 test sites in 17 locations across the city, with each site putting an administrator in charge of the routine work of epidemic prevention and control, and emergency response.

Each test site has been disinfected and will be disinfected after each day's examination. All students, administrators, and staff will have their temperatures checked before entering exam rooms. Some test sites have set up special passageways for students and staff to avoid crowds.

Parents are advised to leave test sites after taking their children to the sites to avoid gathering. Some schools have set up special waiting areas for parents. Students will be guided to leave their test rooms in an orderly fashion after examination.

Students and parents can check out the test sites online ahead of time. For instance, some schools have made detailed information of the sites available on their WeChat official accounts.

Meanwhile, Haidian district this year has upgraded the intelligent examination comprehensive management platform to better serve Gaokao. The platform features "one network and three systems." The "one network" refers to the upgrading and transformation of the special network for examination; the "three systems" refer to the upgrading of the video surveillance system, the construction of the test paper circulation system, and the identity verification system.

After upgrading, the platform can realize real-time data transmission, electronizaiton of examination services, intellectualization of security rooms, digitalization of identity verification, seamless connection of test paper tracking and examination services, and tracing and monitoring of test papers in transport, according to district authorities.
