The Jiaying Taoist Temple in Wuzhi county in central China's Henan province is the only temple in the country that boasts a record of how the Chinese people have harnessed and developed the Yellow River.

Since last year, local authorities have organized student visits to the temple to share knowledge and traditional skills related to the Yellow River with the younger generation.

Zhai Songfeng, an official at the Jiaying Taoist Temple scenic spot, said that the field trips are aimed at children enrolled in kindergarten to high school, and include activities designed for different age groups that focus on different aspects of Yellow River culture.

According to Zhai, the temple, which was built in 1723, had served as the local area's flood management office until the early 1990s.
