Northeast China's Jilin Province on Monday launched a road safety inspection, after 18 people were killed and one was injured in a road accident in the province Sunday.

The accident occurred around 5:40 a.m. Sunday in Jilin's Fuyu city, when a minivan crashed into the rear of a tractor moving in the same direction, and then collided with a small truck coming from the opposite side.

Local authorities have organized 10 comprehensive inspection teams to carry out the road safety inspection in different areas of the province.

The province will take strong measures during the inspection and target illegal activities including the illegal use of agricultural vehicles to carry people.
