Beijing embraces mass entrepreneurship and innovation week with virtual exhibition

This year's national mass entrepreneurship and innovation week opened on Wednesday. To uphold COVID-19 preventative measures, in addition to the offline activities, Beijing has for the first time taken their exhibitions to the virtual level.
Four themed exhibitions will be held in various Beijing venues during the weeklong event. These include exhibitions relating to new infrastructure, sci-tech innovation, employment upgrading, and targeted epidemic prevention and control. Over 100 innovative startups and projects will take part in the event, covering fields such as cloud computing, big data, smart education, and medicine.
The epidemic prevention-themed venue will showcase emerging technologies, projects, industries, and models that have been adopted by Beijing-based companies to stabilize and expand both employment and domestic demand amid the epidemic. Exhibitions will highlight the city's rapid response, quick collaboration, and strong supportive capacity regarding the epidemic. Some 30 projects will be exhibited here, including high-speed mask making machines, computer-aided lung disease diagnosis projects, Tencent cloud computing, and the Beijing health code.
The venue for sci-tech innovation will focus on the city's leading role in cutting-edge technologies and innovations in the fields of 5G chips, new materials, and healthcare.
Regarding new infrastructure, exhibitions in the city will feature projects regarding 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), and blockchain, giving full play to the integration of new infrastructure and the city's urban plan overall. A public platform for the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) will also be exhibited during the session.
Meanwhile, the venue for employment upgrading will reflect new forms of business in retail, job sharing, nursing and elderly care, as well as housekeeping industries. This portion will highlight the role of innovation and business startups in creating jobs.
In addition to the exhibitions, Beijing plans to hold over 20 innovation-themed events throughout the upcoming week to connect government policy with enterprises, service institutes, jobs, and high-level talents.
A digital archive of the event's previous six years has also been created to present the city's efforts to promote entrepreneurship and innovation.
