Inner Mongolia agricultural products expo opens

The 8th Inner Mongolia Green Agriculture and Livestock Products Expo opened in Hohhot on Oct. 12. A total of 664 enterprises are displaying more than 1,800 kinds of green and high-quality agricultural and livestock products and over 460 premium varieties.

Data from the department of agriculture and animal husbandry of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region shows that, in 2019, it ranked first in milk, mutton and cashmere output, second in beef, and eighth in grain nationwide. Its organic products output was also among the highest.

All the 12 prefectural-level divisions in Inner Mongolia each has a stand to display their high-quality local specialties, such as potatoes from Ulanqab, grapes from Wuhai, dairy products from Xilingol, as well as rice and beef from Hinggan.

In the gourmet exhibition area, visitors can not only taste a variety of foods, including steak, beef jerky and oat noodles and drink mare's milk, but can also watch the food-making process on the spot. 

A highlight of this expo is the new exhibition area of varieties and seeds, which consists of four sectors of the crop seed industry, livestock and poultry breeding, forage seed industry as well as seed industry technology.

By means of physical objects, models, genetic maps, multimedia, etc., the new exhibition area will comprehensively show Inner Mongolia's achievements in scientific breeding, variety innovation and their relevant application.

In the exhibition hall, livestreaming that shows the agricultural and animal husbandry products can be seen everywhere. The anchors introduce the products' details and eat them in person before the cameras to boost online sales.

This year, an online version of the expo has also been launched for the first time for nonstop promotion of products on the Internet platform. 

Ending on Wednesday, the expo's aim is to advance the seed industry, promote trade cooperation in and expand the brand influence of the agriculture and animal husbandry sector in Inner Mongolia.
