China's first national vocational skills competition has signed up 15 partners on Friday.

This signing event was the first time that the competition organizing committee has signed agreements directly with partner enterprises. 

The committee said this was part of a new model of government-enterprise cooperation in organizing the competition, giving full play to the role of enterprises as main front in the training and using of vocational talents, exploring enterprises' advantages in technical standards, equipment, facilities and service assurance, drawing on their social influence and appeal, and creating a good social atmosphere.

In return, the committee promised to safeguard the rights and interests of the partners, make full use of the influence and authority of the organizers, and building a big stage for the partners to promote their image and brands.

Nine companies, including Newland Group, Lenovo and 58.com, were selected as “premium partners,” and six, such as Huawei, Tencent, Bank of Communications, China Southern Airlines and Guangzhou Automobile Group as “strategic partners”.

These collaborative companies will provide support for the competition in terms of brand promotion, facilities and equipment, tools and supplies, technical standards, and service guarantees. 

Representatives of the companies agreed to fully perform their responsibilities and obligations, work hard in preparation of the competition, and show a good image of China's enterprises in the vocational skills aspect.

Chen Jixin, general manager of the education ecological development center of Newland Group, said his company would fully support the Internet of Things (IoT) technology competition event, which will assess the skills of the contestants based on definitions, work contents and descriptions of the IoT installation/debugging worker and the IoT engineering technician issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China as well as the general industrial standards.

"Newland Group will transform competition resources into talent training standards, teaching resources, training room construction plans, professional skills training, and certification systems, and will exploit competitions to promote learning and training, improving vocational skills training, and leading professional building and teaching reforms, so as to empower the construction of relevant majors in colleges and universities across the country," said Chen.

An official from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security explained that the introduction of social sponsorship was conducive to saving the cost of running the competition, expanding its impact, and promoting the high-quality development of skilled talents.

In addition to the 15 companies signing agreements on Friday, the competition's executive committee has identified 105 entities for equipment and facility support through open selection since September. They will provide equipment and technical services with a total value of approximately 630 million yuan.

The inaugural National Vocational Skills Competition is sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and organized by Guangdong's provincial government. It will be held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province from Dec. 10 to 13.

The competition has set up 86 competition events. A total of 36 teams from different regions and relevant industries will participate, involving 2,565 contestants and 2,383 referees. This is described as a comprehensive national vocational skills competition with the highest competition specifications, the largest scale of participation, and the highest skill level since the founding of People's Republic of China.
