The second phase of testing featuring subjective questions of China's unified qualification exam for legal professionals started on Saturday.

Over 290,000 applicants took the exam at 501 testing sites in 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities on the Chinese mainland, as well as the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, according to figures released by the Ministry of Justice.

To coordinate the examination organization and epidemic prevention and control, the ministry has sent 31 groups to inspect examination sites nationwide.

The first phase of the exam, a test with objective questions, took place on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 this year. Nearly 700,000 people signed up for the test.
