Kenji Bando, a member of the editorial board of one of the oldest Japanese daily newspapers, the Mainichi Shimbun, has revealed Japanese media will give wider coverage of the true development history of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He was speaking during the media sub-forum of the 16th Beijing-Tokyo Forum on Dec. 1.

According to Bando, the Japanese media marvel at China's rapid economic, scientific and technological development, and many young Japanese people also get the impression that China is becoming highly advanced in many fields.

However, they hardly know how the CPC was founded or how the diplomatic relations between China and Japan were established. Neither did they understand that China's current achievements were hard-earned step by step.

"As a result, our media need to expound more deeply on these issues," he said, adding that Japanese media coverage on the CPC will be enhanced as the Party celebrates its centenary next year, so as to help the Japanese public comprehend China's political system from a historical perspective.

In addition, Bando called on the two sides to conduct more exchanges transcending the differences in political systems to cultivate stronger relations between the two neighbors.
