The Luohu district government signed a strategic agreement with Shenzhen Middle School on Jan. 12 covering "all-field" education cooperation.

This followed Liu Zhiyong, head of the Luohu government, and Zhu Huawei, headmaster of the Shenzhen Middle School, exchanging ideas on Luohu's education strategy, prestigious school management and branding and regional education resource layout.

Shenzhen Middle School based in Luohu has the objective of building itself as world first-class senior middle school with Chinese characteristics.

The cooperation agreement will further promote quality development of the district's education, and explore a new path for Luohu's education development.

The two sides will set up cooperative mechanisms on sharing of quality education resources, joint teacher training programs, improvement of the external environment for Shenzhen Middle School and supporting the school to build a talent education base in the district.

Luohu, as the first district founded in Shenzhen over 40 years ago, is known as the cradle of Shenzhen education.

Nowadays, the district attaches great significance to applying advanced technology to campus activities, attracting good teachers from across the country and increasing input in public schooling.

Shenzhen Middle School, founded in 1947, is one of the most prestigious of its type in the city, and is famous for its emphasis on quality education, arts, sports and serving society.

Liu Zhiyong said the Shenzhen Middle School had made tremendous contribution to Luohu's socioeconomic development, and the district would try its best to further support its development, increasing its input to help the school better serve local people.

Zhu Huawei said that the Luohu people and government had shown great care to the school, and their support would inject new impetus into the school, enabling it to strive to make new contributions to Luohu's education cause.

Luohu has established its 14th Five-Year Development Plan (2021-25) for Education. During the next five years, the district will build and expand 41 public schools and increase capacity by 35,000 seats in the compulsory education stage, with overall investment of 10.23 billion yuan ($1.56 billion); another 27 kindergartens will be founded with an enrolment capacity of about 9,000 children a year, and the overall investment for this program will be 440 million yuan; the district will provide 649,000 square meters of land for these projects.

The Luohu government sees investment in education as investment in the future of the district.
