Beijing's southern Daxing district has basically completed a district-wide COVID-19 sampling from Jan. 17 to 2 p.m. on Jan. 21, since a recent resurgence of locally transmitted cases, said Han Xinxing, vice head of the district, at a press conference Thursday.
Han said medical workers have collected around 1.56 million nucleic acid test samples, which basically covered all residents in Daxing, and over 1.28 million nucleic acid tests have been completed.
Daxing reported its first case on Jan. 17 in the recent COVID-19 outbreak and swiftly tested nearby residents and close contacts.
Han said Daxing will continue to implement measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus, while providing sufficient supplies and services for its residents to ensure that people who need to stay at home can be worry-free.
Altogether, 2,558 community volunteers and 1,986 healthcare workers have participated in the mass testing work, and 39 hotels, involving 3,424 rooms, have been used for centralized quarantine, he said.
