Chinese lawmakers raise 473 proposals to annual legislative session

Deputies to the ongoing fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), China's national legislature, have submitted 473 proposals as of 12 p.m. Monday (Beijing Time), according to the secretariat of the session.

The secretariat said it has also received around 9,000 pieces of suggestions, criticisms and comments from NPC deputies.

Among the proposals, 465 of them are legislative items, focusing on topics including improving people's wellbeing and social governance, developing a modernized economic system, protecting the environment and promoting green development, the secretariat said.

The suggestions put forward by NPC deputies focus on topics such as consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty eradication, enhancing the comprehensive protection of intellectual property rights, reinforcing national strategic strength in science and technology, among others, it added.
