Beijing's Fengtai district government is pledging to step up development efforts in its three major areas, including Beijing's Lize Financial Business District, Zhongguancun Fengtai Science Park, and the capital's new business district, according to Xu Jianyun, secretary of the CPC Fengtai District Committee.

Xu said that the building of national comprehensive demonstration zone for expanding opening-up in the service sector and pilot free trade zone is the major driving force for the city's high-quality development, and will further energize markets related to finance, science and technology, culture, business, and other modern service industries in Fengtai district.

Beijing's Lize Financial Business District is home to 400 financial companies, which make up 66% of all companies in the area. The district is expected to build a demonstration zone for digital finance characterized with emerging and advanced fin-tech industries. 

Rail transit and aerospace industries have emerged as two pillar industrial clusters in Zhongguancun Fengtai Science Park. The authorities are planning to continue the innovation-driven approach, further tap the industrial potential there, and nurture new types and modes of business, while attracting multinational companies to set up regional headquarters and R&D centers.

The capital's new business district is located around Beijing's Dahongmen market. As Beijing has taken measures to move non-capital functions away from the city, such as relocating wholesale markets, this area is expected to be renovated in order to facilitate international business development. 

According to Xu, thanks to favorable polices, Fengtai district's service sector has contributed to more than 85% of the region's GDP. In recent years, the district has carried out over 240 major projects on infrastructure construction, public service, and industrial development. In the future, the land used for the district's industrial development is expected to reach 13 square kilometers, with a total floor area of 23 million square meters.
