The 40-kilometer northern river way of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in Tongzhou district will open in June.

At present, 50% of the installation of navigation locks - Gantang and Yulinzhuang - has been completed. A bridge over the Yulinzhuang navigation lock will complete its construction at the end of May.

Meanwhile, work on the landscaping projects along the canal are in its final stretch.

Two major landscape engineering projects to increase afforestation and improve the environment will be launched. In addition, comprehensive service facilities including pedestrian walkways, rest areas, and scenic sites will be constructed along the river.

Sightseeing boats from the Tongzhou river way to Hebei's Xianghe county are also being planned.
