The Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC) was held in Beijing from May 15-22, 2019. The event aimed to carry forward the brilliant achievements of civilizations in Asia and the world, build a platform for mutual learning and mutual development, enhance the confidence of Asian culture, and promote cooperation and mutual trust in Asia.

Themed "exchanges and mutual learning among Asian civilizations and a community with a shared future for Asia," the conference was attended by a total of 1,352 representatives from all 47 countries in Asia, countries in other parts of the world, and international organizations.

Issues concerning the development of Asian civilization and mutually beneficial cooperation among countries in Asia were discussed during the weeklong event.

The conference also saw the release of the "2019 Beijing Consensus of the CDAC," a statement by CDAC participants agreeing that diverse civilizations should respect each other in a spirit of inclusiveness and mutual learning, and conduct more extensive and in-depth dialogue, exchanges and cooperation.

"In light of history and reality, we should ensure that respect for diversity will replace a sense of superiority, harmonious coexistence will replace clashes, exchanges and sharing will replace estrangement, and joint progress will replace isolation," the statement said.

The statement also called for further cooperation among different countries in the fields of culture, tourism, education, media, think tanks, health, and nongovernmental exchanges.

In addition, reports on Asia's role in global governance and awareness of Asian civilizations were published during the event.
