The First Congress of the Soviet Republic of China was held in Ruijin, Jiangxi province, on Nov.7, 1931. A total of 610 deputies attended the event. The congress declared the establishment of a temporary central government and elected 63members to the executive committee. The executive committee of the central government held its first meeting on Nov.27, electing Mao Zedong as chairman of the executive committee of the central government of the Soviet Republic of China.
