October 1934 – October 1936
The Long March

From October 1934 to October 1936, the CPC followed its own strategy by leading the main forces of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army on a trek of 25,000 li (12,500 km) from its bases in south China to the Party's enclave in northern Shaanxi province. Known as the "Long March," this epic effort started a new great march toward national independence and liberation.
