Beijing Municipal Health Commission recently released an implementation plan for mental health examination and psychological assistance services for Beijing residents, encouraging trained psychological counselors, therapists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals to provide hotline assistance services.

This year, the capital will work to improve its mental health examination and psychological assistance service platform as well as educate the public about mental health, provide mental health self-evaluations, suggestions for stress relief, and other services. It will also carry out psychological evaluations, monitoring, and early warnings following major events. Third-party service organizations will be introduced to provide additional service tools and psychological assessments.

The implementation plan requires all districts and third-party organizations in the city to make full use of mental health professional service resources to organize and carry out mental health examination services among different at-risk groups, especially the young, women, the elderly, workers, and those with disabilities.

The plan also mentions that all districts and relevant units shall encourage the recruitment of trained psychological service personnel for the city's psychological assistance hotlines. Training courses and supervision channels shall also be made available for these professionals. Finally, crisis intervention tools shall also be provided to help professionals carry out their work effectively.
