Beijing Health Kit, a QR system for coronavirus tracking, has received nearly 7.9 billion inquiries since it was released last year. The announcement was made by Pan Feng, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, at a press conference held on Monday.

Pan said that the release of its latest 4.0 version a few days ago marks several notable updates, including an adjustment of its interface and optimization of its itinerary verification capabilities. The latest version has also adopted a minimalist design, with its databases backed by multiple departments, high privacy, and improved security.

For Beijing residents who have traveled to medium- and high-risk areas, the Beijing Health Kit will display a pop-up prompt. The Beijing Health Kit will show a "home observation" message for those located in medium- and high-risk areas. People who fall into above-mentioned categories must also strictly comply with local epidemic prevention requirements and postpone their plans to come to Beijing.

Pan explained that the data provided by the relevant departments only applies to prefecture-level areas and is not precise enough to specify buildings, streets, and counties. That means there may a small chance of false judgment. When individuals want to verify their status, they can call hotlines such as 12345, 12326, or 12306.

As itinerary verification only relates to mobile phone numbers bound to WeChat, Alipay, Baidu, and other channels under the citizen's name, Pan reminded citizens to unbind infrequently used and canceled mobile phone numbers 14 days in advance of traveling to avoid being unable to pass the itinerary verification.

System upgrades for the Beijing Health Kit generally occur between 12:00 and 2:00 a.m. Because of this, citizens taking flights during this period may not be able to open the Health Kit. For those who encounter this problem, Pan said, "Please be patient and refresh it, and the problem will soon resolve itself."
