The city of Xiamen in east China's Fujian Province has reported 48 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases as of 4 p.m. Wednesday following the latest resurgence in the province that began on Friday.

Among these cases, ten patients were diagnosed with the virus on Tuesday and three on Wednesday, most of whom were close contacts of the confirmed cases, according to local epidemic prevention and control authority.

All the cases are under treatment at a designated hospital and in stable condition.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, the city has identified 773 close contacts of the confirmed cases and 541 secondary close contacts.

The city is reducing personnel flows and gatherings to stem the spread of the coronavirus. It is also speeding up epidemiological investigations and conducting nucleic acid testing in all its six districts to screen for infections.
