On Sept. 28, the Luohu District Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a meeting to learn about General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech at the Global Trade in Services Summit of the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services.

The attendants of the meeting also listened to the district's epidemic prevention and control work, and preparations to compete for the honorary title of a national civilized city. Secretary of the CPC Luohu District Committee Liu Sheng presided over the meeting.

The meeting stressed the need to strengthen a sense of responsibility, mission and urgency in promoting the high-quality development of trade in services, build a new development pattern based on services, and promote the development of strong trade zones to a new level through the innovative development of trade in services.

The meeting urged Luohu to deepen opening-up and cooperation, seize the major opportunities offered by the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Shenzhen pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics, actively explore cross-border finance, cross-border medical care and cross-border education, and strive to introduce a number of leading enterprises in the international service trade.

According to the deployments of the meeting, relevant departments of Luohu need to further improve their working mechanisms, create a favorable environment for the innovative development of trade in services, constantly improve systems and mechanisms for promoting trade in services, formulate supporting implementation policies, and create a first-class business environment based on market principles, governed by law, and up to international standards.

The meeting called for a greater sense of responsibility and urgency in epidemic prevention and control. The meeting said that it is necessary to further strengthen the defense line against imported cases of the novel coronavirus, strictly manage quarantine sites in accordance with standards and regulations, and provide the third dose of vaccination for eligible people and vaccination for people over 60 years old.

The meeting urged Luohu to establish and improve the mechanisms for epidemic prevention and control, including emergency response mechanisms, monitoring and early warning mechanisms, and regular supervision and inspection mechanisms so as to ensure that all epidemic prevention and control measures are fully implemented and responsibilities are fulfilled.

According to the meeting, all the relevant departments of Luohu need to coordinate workplace safety and epidemic prevention and control during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7.

The meeting also emphasized that great attention should be paid to building a civilized city, and relevant efforts should be made to improve it by earnestly summing up experiences and lessons. An accountability system was also suggested to ensure all civil servants can make unswerving efforts to fulfill their duties in the building of a civilized city.
