Beijing has seen steady growth in investment since the beginning of 2021. A total of 497 major projects have begun construction over the last 10 months, with the investment reaching 641.2 billion yuan (US$100.1 billion), according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform on Wednesday.

In the first three quarters of this year, key construction projects such as the second phase of the China International Exhibition Center increased the city's fixed-asset investment by 7.9% year on year.

Noticeably, several projects scheduled to start in the next two years have begun this year, including the China headquarters of automaker BMW.

As Beijing's "two zones" initiative continues to gather momentum, the investment in the industries of finance, leasing and commercial services, and information services saw year-on-year growths of 124.9%, 15.9%, and 6.8%, respectively.

Additionally, Beijing has vigorously promoted projects to improve people's living environments. Over the last nine months, the city have launched renovations of 69 old residential communities and finished 58 renovation projects.

In a bid to make people's life more convenient, the city has also stepped up efforts to accelerate the construction of public transport. For example, Beijing Subway Line 1 and Batong Line are now directly connected, enabling people to travel to the central urban area and urban sub-centers without switching subway trains.
