The overall supply of daily necessities in Beijing remains stable and in good order, and can fully meet consumer demand, said Wang Hongcun, an official from the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, during a press conference on Thursday.
Many of the city's supermarkets have stepped up efforts to ensure the supply of groceries and other daily necessities for the upcoming winter-spring period, with 20,000 metric tons of pork in inventory and the daily supply of vegetables reaching 26,000 metric tons, said Wang.
In addition to ensuring a full stock of supplies, the municipal government has been actively taking action to ensure the supply of over 10 types of foods including meats, eggs, vegetables, and salt, Wang added.
In terms of delivery channels, courier companies have strengthened personnel and carrying capabilities, gearing up for the Nov. 11 shopping season. The municipal postal delivery volume hit 36.38 million from Nov.1 to 3, rising 20% year on year, according to Liao Lingzhu, an official of the Beijing Municipal Postal Administration.
