Beijing will complete urban landscaping for the upcoming Winter Olympics and Paralympics by Jan. 20, municipal officials said.

The landscaping work includes three landmark landscape decorations, 10 themed flower terraces at landmark areas such as Tian'anmen Square, Dongdan, and Xidan, and 14,000 flags along the streets.

There will also be festive decorations with Winter Olympics and Spring Festival elements, such as 200,000 lanterns and lights, in Beijing's main streets, alleys, residential areas, and business circles.

The landscaping efforts also include adding 111,000 evergreen trees and 3.56 million plants with colorful branches and leaves. In addition, seven artworks gathered from around the world will be placed in parks.

Shuttle lines and highways between competition zones will also be decorated, the officials said.

So far, Beijing competition zone has put up over 150 landscape decorations, and Yanqing competition zone has finished work on two landmarks.
