Beijing's customized bus service involving 143 shifts in several of the capital's districts resumed operation on Monday morning, after the city loosened epidemic response restrictions following the decrease in COVID-19 cases.

Districts that resumed customized bus services include Dongcheng, the southern part of Chaoyang, Tongzhou, and Daxing. Among them, the number of customized bus shifts on the route of the Jingtong Expressway reached 143, allowing people from the Guanzhuang and Beiyuan neighborhoods to reach downtown Beijing quickly and conveniently.

"I am so happy that the customized bus service resumed on the first day I resume work," said a passenger surnamed Huang. According to him, the customized bus ensures that there's a seat for each passenger, and passengers are required to buy tickets under their real names, which effectively reduces the risk of infection during travel.

The bus Mr. Huang took had some 20 passengers and reached the terminal station in around 35 minutes. According to the bus driver Ju Jun, all the buses are strictly sterilized before and after each operation, and the drivers need to present negative nucleic acid testing results taken within the previous 24 hours. They must also wear N95 masks.

In order to provide more precise services, the customized bus lines are soliciting demands from Beijing enterprises. Enterprises can apply for customized bus services online.
