The 12th Beijing International Film Festival is set to run from Aug. 13 to 20 and screen over 100 Chinese and foreign films, according to the organizers.

The film festival will comprise an opening ceremony, a red carpet ceremony, a film carnival, a college student film festival, an award and closing ceremony, and themed forums.

A total of 1,450 films from around the world were submitted to compete for the Tiantan Award this year, up 63% from last year. They also include 1,193 foreign films from 88 countries and regions.

Forty-eight immersive cultural activities will be rolled out at the film carnival, which will last from Aug. 14 to 27.
