Beijing on Thursday launched a campaign to invite the public to select 100 must-see tourist destinations in the city, so as to further stimulate tourism and boost consumption.

This is the third year since the city launched the annual campaign.

The selection process will involve the participation of online voters who can recommend their favorite destinations from July 28 to Aug. 28 through the official WeChat public account of the municipal culture and tourism bureau.

The campaign will also rate the top 20 most popular destinations in the city.

This year’s campaign will introduce a series of webcasts of popular tourist destinations, attracting citizens to visit those sites in person. The first webcast will feature the Liangma River International Waterfront on Qixi Festival, or China’s Valentine’s Day, which falls on Aug. 4 this year.

The Bank of Beijing has also launched a financial support initiative to boost tourism and consumption in those sites.

Organizers of the campaign said the list of 100 destinations will be released by the end of the year.
