2022 Global Digital Economy Conference holds forum on AI

A forum on artificial intelligence was held in Beijing on Thursday, as a part of the 2022 Global Digital Economy Conference. The forum focused on AI's role in promoting the digital economy and the innovative development of industries and in building Beijing into an international sci-tech innovation center. 

Beijing is seeing its AI development graduating from a period of R&D to innovative applications, which better serves the real economy, according to Zhang Jinsong, head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology. Focusing on key industries of smart manufacturing, smart cultural tourism, intelligent connected vehicles, and smart city, Beijing will beef up efforts of building AI infrastructure and applications, Zhang added. 

The forum helped to demonstrate how AI leads the development in various industries, including biomedicine, industrial supply chains, and materials science.

At the roundtable dialogue, scientists and experts from China Mobile, Xiaomi, and other leading enterprises, as well as founders of tech start-ups, discussed new models and methods for integrated development of AI and the real economy. 

Participants in the forum also unveiled model cases of AI applications in Beijing National Artificial Intelligence Innovation Application Pilot Zone. The cases mainly covered five fields, namely the technologies applied in the Winter Olympics, smart city, smart manufacturing, intelligent connected vehicles, and advanced technologies.
