The National Aquatics Center, a dual-Olympic venue in Beijing, has opened a new underground ice sports center. The week-long trial operation started on Aug. 1.

Located 11 meters underground at the venue's south square, the Ice Sports Center includes a 1,830 square meter ice rink and a 900 square meter standard curling rink with four 45×5-meter tracks. The center covers around 8,000 square meters.

The complex will host high-level competitions, fitness programs, training courses, touring events, and performances. It will also help promote curling and Winter Olympic culture.

The ice rink is currently open for reservations, with ticket and appointment scheduling services available via the official WeChat account of the National Aquatics Center. A ticket for two hours of ice sports costs 70 yuan per person on weekdays and 90 yuan per person on weekends and holidays.

The Ice Sports Center currently opens from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the last admission two hours before closing. It has capped the number of visitors at 175 people per game for pandemic prevention purposes. Visitors must strictly follow the preventive measures and present a negative nucleic acid test report within 72 hours.

The National Aquatics Center, also known as Water Cube or Ice Cube, hosted the curling events during the Beijing 2022 Winter Games. It is recognized as one of the world's best curling venues by World Curling Federation (WCF) President Kate Caithness.
