A think tank on the preservation of Beijing's Central Axis and its application for World Heritage Status in 2024 has been established, with 192 experts to be invited to carry out research and provide suggestions for the bid.

So far, 69 domestic experts and 21 overseas professionals in the fields of heritage protection, archaeology, architecture, law, media, and science and technology have joined the think tank.

Local cultural relic protection authorities have also developed a WeChat mini program to manage experts' profiles and their research updates and provide various services accordingly.

Experts from the think tank will present periodic reports and conduct research in six aspects: digitally empowered World Heritage Status application, cultural consumption, new scenarios for cultural activities, public engagement, teenagers' participation and international communication work.

The think tank will also produce a policy research report on the application of digital technologies in the Central Axis' bid and another five themed research papers, and complete a survey into cultural activities along the axis.

In addition, young scholars from the think tank will hold 10 public speaking events and help tell stories about Beijing's Central Axis.
