Chinese oil giant PetroChina has launched the first "carbon-neutral" gas station in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in Beijing E-Town. Moreover, it has obtained "carbon neutral certification" from the Tianjin Climate Exchange.
PetroChina Beijing E-Town Filling Station is located in the Cultural Park of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area, adjacent to the Southeast 5th Ring Road in the north and the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway in the east. The filling station covers an area of 3,376 square meters.
The company said that with a full-load power output of around 200 kilowatt-hours a day, its first-year power generation capacity can reach 72,000 kilowatt-hours, which can meet the operation needs of the station.
According to an official from PetroChina Beijing Sales Company, the station has canceled six metric tons of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), which will neutralize emissions during its operation from Jan. 1, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2022. As such, the station has achieved carbon neutrality for 2021 and is ahead of schedule for 2022.
