The staff at a senior citizens' canteen in Ludancun neighborhood, affiliated with the Guiyuan sub-district office, Luohu, are cooking food and delivering it to older adults. Dining in restaurants is currently banned due to COVID-19 prevention and control.

More than 15% of residents in Ludancun are 60 years old and above. A service station for senior residents was set up in Ludancun in September 2021, mainly providing lunch and dinner for the older adults.

According to the station's manager, the canteen now prepares food for about 100 senior residents, covering all the older adults living alone in the neighborhood. Older adults living with government allowance for low-income families can enjoy subsidies for the meals provided by the canteen.

To ensure diners are satisfied with the food, the canteen solicits feedback regarding their favorite food and the food they avoid.

The senior residents' service station in Ludancun is one of hundreds of nursing and service homes and facilities founded for older adults across the city. The Shenzhen government has vowed to form 15-minute life circles for older adults so they can access all kinds of life and public services near their homes.
