Shenzhen ranks 9th among global financial center cities

Shenzhen ranks 9th among global financial center cities, according to the 32nd edition of the Global Financial Centers Index report (GFCI32) jointly released by China Development Institute and Z/Yen, a British think tank.

In the same serial report they published in March, Shenzhen was ranked 10th. The report evaluates and ranks the world's major financial centers in terms of the business environment, human capital, infrastructure, level of financial sector development and reputation.

A total of 119 financial centers were included in the GFCI 32 list, with the top 10 financial centers being: New York, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Beijing, Shenzhen and Paris.

The GFCI 32 list has 12 financial centers on the Chinese mainland. In addition to Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen, Guangzhou ranked 25th, Chengdu 34th and Qingdao 36th. Meanwhile, Dalian, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Tianjin saw significant improvements in their scores and rankings, with Nanjing and Tianjin rising the most, by 24 and 18 places, respectively.

Regarding fintech, the top 10 cities were New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Boston, Chicago and Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Guangzhou ranked 11th and Chengdu 22nd.
