Beijing ranks 10 most beautiful alleys

Beijing announced on Thursday a ranking of the 10 most beautiful alleys and streets in the city in 2022, showcasing the Chinese capital's latest efforts to improve urban planning and elevate people's living standards.
Among the list are Shaojiu Hutong in Dongcheng district, Gongmenkou Dongxicha in Xicheng district, Dacheng street in Tongzhou distrrict, the riverside trail along Liangma River in Chaoyang district, and Fuchenglu North 3rd Street near Yuyuantan Park in Haidian district.
The annual ranking is initiated by Beijing Daily and several municipal government agencies, aiming to call on the public to protect and improve the living environment of their neighborhoods.
Since 2017, Beijing has launched two three-year campaigns to clean up and improve its alleys and backstreets, with the more recent campaign taking place in 2020-2022 and focusing on more specific criteria on a wider range of areas across the city.
So far, Beijing has completed the task of environmental improvement in 3,286 alleys across the city.
