The first-phase project of Universal Beijing Resort has won the Luban Award, the highest award in the quality of construction engineering in the country.
Universal Beijing Resort became the first Chinese-led project to be honored by the award in the theme park category.
In a bid to deliver a complex project with uniform standards, Beijing International Resort Co. Ltd, the property owner of the resort, worked closely with Chinese contractors and established a strict management system to meet international standards in all theme parks and service areas in the resort.
Apart from the strict standards, the construction team has also explored a number of new technologies and techniques. For example, the team made ingenious use of construction waste to
fill up the ground. The recycling rate of construction waste reached 97%.
As part of its efforts to give park visitors an immersive experience, the team also overcame many difficulties to recreate classic scenes from movies with the park's facilities.
In the Jurassic World Adventure area, to reconstruct the volcano in the movie, the team built 2,642 pieces of steel mesh of various shapes onto a steel structure, which were then precisely filled with carved cement before being sculpted and painted by hand.
Delivering a theme park with the highest quality in the world has always been the original aspiration of many engineers and experts, said Wang Tayi, general manager of Beijing International Resort Co. Ltd.
