The first tour group from Hong Kong, comprised of 17 people, arrived in Beijing on Feb. 6, marking the full resumption of cross-boundary travel between Hong Kong and the mainland.

The Chinese mainland fully resumed regular travel with the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions on Monday, providing a boost for the three regions' economic development.

The tour group will visit popular attractions such as the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, and the Badaling section of the Great Wall, as well as other famous historical and cultural heritage sites. They will also visit new cultural tourism destinations like Universal Beijing Resort and Shougang Park in Beijing's Shijingshan district, one of the main venues of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

Zhang Kexiong, a spokesperson for China Tourism Group, said that the company had sent three tour groups on Feb. 6 to Beijing, Taishan and Shaoguan from Hong Kong and Macao.

An official from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism said that the city had launched 88 emerging cultural tourism destinations and 11 themed routes to boost its inbound tourism market.
