E-mail China.org.cn, February 10, 2023As people return to work and students go back to school after the Spring Festival holiday, the passenger traffic of Beijing's rail transit network reached 10.15 million on Feb. 8, marking the first time in 11 months that the passenger traffic of the subway network has returned to the 10 million level.
Among Beijing's subway lines, Line 10 recorded the highest passenger flow, with a passenger traffic of 1.48 million. The passenger flow of Line 1 and Batong, Line 4, and Line 6 each stood at around 900,000.
According to data, Beijing's rail transit network recorded an average of over 10 million daily passenger traffic from 2017 to 2021. After the low point from November to December last year, the passenger traffic started to surge from late December. Before the Spring Festival, the passenger traffic reached around 8 million on workdays. On the first workday after the holiday on Jan. 28, the passenger traffic of the entire rail transit network hit 6.36 million.
Beijing Subway said it has been operating at maximum capacity based on passenger flow to better support the resumption of work and production. All lines are running with the minimum train intervals during peak hours. To meet demand during peak hours, temporary trains are also being added.
