Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) John Lee said on Friday that Hong Kong should spare no efforts to pursue economic growth and development, and enhance competitiveness.

Lee made the remarks after returning to Hong Kong on Friday from Boao, a coastal town in China's island province of Hainan, where he attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2023.

Lee said he deeply believed Hong Kong's development is in the right direction after attending the forum.

Lee said Hong Kong has unlimited opportunities brought by the country's development and policies. Therefore, Hong Kong should fully integrate into the overall development of the country, and fulfil its position in eight key areas set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan.

Hong Kong should also take an active part in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative, he added.

"As an international city, Hong Kong needs to consolidate its strength and competitiveness in this regard, and build on its unique advantages of relying on the motherland and connecting with the world," Lee said.
