Culu, a gold and jewelry company in Shuibei of the Luohu district, has seen its sales revenue through e-commerce channels increase fast over the past decade. It represents a typical example of how e-commerce has benefited the development of the jewelry industry in Shuibei.

Culu’s e-commerce sales revenue hit 1 billion yuan ($142.4 million) last year, accounting for about 20% of its total sales revenue. The e-commerce department of the company, which was founded in 2013, now has 20 staff members, and has cultivated two famous live-streaming sales hostesses.

The company attributes its success on the e-commerce fronts partly to the stout support of the Luohu government, which sets up the live-streaming platforms and guarantees the quality of gold and jewelry, as that effectively helps dispel consumers’ concerns on purchasing shoddy and fake products from online channels.
