Beijing recently launched the 2023 "Colorful World" International Youth Painting Invitational Exhibition, aiming to enhance the protection of the Central Axis of Beijing and world cultural heritage while promoting exchange and mutual learning among civilizations.
The event is open to participants aged 4 to 18 worldwide and will select paintings that depict world cultural heritage, natural heritage, and dual cultural and natural heritage. The deadline for submission is July 31.
Participants will be divided into three age groups: between ages 4 and 6, between ages 7 and 12, and between ages 13 and 18. Each group will include first, second, and third place winners. Awards for outstanding organizations will be given to cities, friendship organizations, overseas Chinese organizations, schools, and art institutions that have actively supported the event.
In order to promote the Central Axis, a special exhibition zone titled "Colorful Central Axis of Beijing" will be established. Additionally, the event encourages people to submit short videos promoting world cultural heritage protection. The best short videos will be displayed online, with a submission deadline of Aug. 20.
Both online and in-person exhibitions of the paintings will be held at the China National Film Museum in late October. The award-winning representatives, heads of relevant institutions, diplomats in China, experts of aesthetic education, and Chinese and foreign media professionals will be invited to the award ceremony.
The Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries held international youth painting competitions on the themes of the Beijing Winter Olympics and biodiversity in 2021 and 2022, respectively. These events attracted over 73,000 young people from more than 70 countries to participate. Art exhibitions were held in more than 10 countries such as the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Mauritius.
