Beijing's Dongcheng district will be home to more than 75 time-honored brands by 2025 in its two commercial areas - Wangfujing Street and Qianmen Street, according to the district's recently released plan to preserve and promote the vitality of historical brands.

At present, Dongcheng district boasts 68 time-honored brands, 35 of which are recognized at both the national and municipal levels.

Wangfujing Street and Qianmen Street are a center of these brands. As the capital city aspires to establish itself as an international consumption center, the Wangfujing commercial area has seen upgrades, including the addition of numerous innovative stalls that have proven popular among customers. Over the past two years, the Qianmen commercial area has established a hairdressing museum, a hat museum, and a traditional culture center to offer visitors a unique experience.

Over the next three years, Dongcheng district will encourage the integrated development of time-honored brands and commercial areas. Wangfujing Street will enhance its offering of these brands as its defining feature, while Qianmen Street will create a consumption area that showcases traditional culture.

Other key streets in the district will also upgrade existing brands and introduce more time-honored brands and intangible cultural heritage. This move is aimed at developing cultural and commercial communities featuring time-honored brands.
