Technology's role in reshaping the broadcasting and audiovisual sector took center stage as the China Beijing International Audiovisual Conference 2023 (CIAC2023) opened at the Beijing Yichuang International Convention and Exhibition Center from Aug. 3 to 6.

The conference, supported by the National Radio and Television Administration and guided by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, aimed to explore the potential of intelligent broadcasting and the future direction of the audiovisual sector. Hosted by the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau and the Administrative Committee of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, the event covered over 20,000 square meters across seven thematic exhibition zones. Activities at this major conference included an opening ceremony, the Beijing New Audiovisual Summit, and more than 30 thematic forums.

Over 30,000 professionals were drawn to the event, including eminent figures from the audiovisual industry. The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Yu Yingjie, vice mayor of the Beijing Municipal Government; Yu Aiqun, director of the Department of Planning and Finance of the National Radio and Television Administration; Han Geng, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal Government; Wang Jiequn, secretary of the Party Group and director-general of the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau; Zhang Qiang, secretary of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area Work Committee; Fariz Mahdawi, ambassador of Palestine to China and head of Arab Missions in China; and Tom Duke, U.K. trade envoy in China.

During the event, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau forged a collaboration with the U.K. Department for Business and Trade's China Office, formalizing the Memorandum of Understanding on the Overseas Broadcasting Season of Beijing's Outstanding Films and Television Dramas. This partnership aims to strengthen audiovisual exchanges and foster mutual growth within the industry. The bureau also signed cooperation agreements with radio and television bureaus of Yunnan, Guangxi, Xinjiang and Heilongjiang. These agreements seek to facilitate comprehensive cooperation in areas such as content translation, overseas promotion and technological advancement.

The opening ceremony also marked the inauguration of the China (Beijing) Hi-Tech Audiovisual Industry Park. Authorized by the National Radio and Television Administration and jointly curated by the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau and the Administrative Committee of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, this innovative venture hosts a diverse range of facilities. These include an audiovisual headquarters base, a hub for industry research and development, and an incubator focusing on innovation, business operations, and technological advancements within the audiovisual sphere.

CIAC2023 delved into various aspects of the audiovisual field over its four-day span, such as content, technology, industry, and security. The event seamlessly integrated exhibitions, summits, forums, investment and trading platforms, authoritative releases, and scenario experiences. Over 200 leading global enterprises from the audiovisual sector and prominent organizations showcased cutting-edge technology products and innovative business applications across seven thematic exhibition areas.
