Many new rail transport vehicles and technologies are being showcased at the 15th International Exhibition on Transport Technology & Equipment. This exhibition runs concurrently with the 2023 Global Sustainable Transport Forum, which opened on Monday in Beijing.
In the “Beijing Transport” exhibition area, visitors were introduced to a diverse range of rail vehicle models, exemplifying cutting-edge technology. Notably, the Beijing Subway Line 3 train attracted substantial attention.
"The Beijing Subway Line 3 train is China's first fully automatic, driverless subway vehicle with flexible coupling and composition capabilities," explained Xing Songling, senior manager of the Research Institute of the Beijing Rail Transit Technology Equipment Group Co., Ltd.
Importantly, Line 3 trains have achieved total autonomous operation, requiring no human intervention. The initial set of Line 3 trains has already been delivered to the operating company, with plans to deliver the remainder next year.
A fresh feature of the exhibition was the premiere of a low-capacity light magnetic levitation train, developed by Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. Distinct from typical magnetic levitation trains in the market, this "mini" model comprises only two carriages and is notable for its lightweight, compact size, and cost-effectiveness.
"The low-capacity light magnetic levitation train utilizes a self-developed lightweight track beam, significantly reducing construction expenses," a technician from Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. elaborated. The design is optimized for short-distance, low-capacity transportation scenarios, including use in large cities, branch lines in medium-sized cities, tourist destinations, industrial parks, airport connections, and commutes.
The 15th World International Transport Technology and Equipment Exhibition features various display areas, highlighting advancements in comprehensive transportation infrastructure construction, high-end transportation manufacturing, international logistics supply chain systems, and green, low-carbon transportation.
