A report examining Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific cooperation was unveiled on Monday during the eighth China Global Think Tank Innovation Forum held in Beijing from Oct. 23-24.

The report "Strengthen Asia-Pacific Cooperation and Participate in Indo-Pacific Cooperation — China's Opportunities and Challenges" was co-released by the Center for China and Globalization and the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies of Fujian Academy of Social Sciences, with the aim of helping enhance unity and cohesion among countries in the Asia-Pacific and advancing regional economic integration.

The Asia-Pacific region, which accounts for one-third of the world's population, over 60% of the global economy and close to half of global trade, is the most dynamic area of growth in the world. However, various uncertainties and instabilities amid a new global period of fluidity and change have posed serious challenges to peace and development in the region.

Under such circumstances, the report proposes China's response to better exercise leadership as a major country and foster more inclusiveness in the Asia-Pacific.

A total of 10 suggestions are highlighted in the report, including expanding Sino-U.S. collaboration under the APEC platform, expediting negotiations for accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, maintaining smooth cooperation mechanisms among China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, adopting an open attitude toward the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, and maintaining and enhancing high-level Sino-U.S. exchanges.
