The first subway for Line 13 of Chengdu Metro in Sichuan province was unveiled at the CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Company (Chengdu) on Sept. 20, after completing static and dynamic debugging recently.

The preparatory work for a trial operation of the first phase of Line 13 is in full swing. At present, 16 of the 21 stations of the first phase of Line 13 have been capped; the main structures of the other five stations are being built; 77.9% of the total designed shielded excavation volume has been completed.

As a cross-city rail transit line in Chengdu, the first phase of Line 13 starts from Wayaotan Station in the west, runs through the central city, and reaches Long’an Station in the east. It goes through the downtown area and connects the Longquanyi district with it. After the opening of the line, it will further expand the urban rail transit network in the city, making transit easier.

The first automatic subway train with a maximum speed of 140 km/h in China, the subway train of Line 13, which is 186 meters long, with a capacity of 2,164 passengers and a maximum capacity of 3,054 passengers, is safe, comfortable and reliable.

The train is equipped with intelligent equipment devices for electric network, track inspection and batteries, etc. It is also equipped with video monitoring equipment at the position of the pantograph, which can help monitor the status of the vehicle in real time, helping the maintenance personnel to analyze and handle the fault in a more targeted and more efficient way.

In addition, the train's passenger information system uses advanced image recognition technology to detect items passengers carelessly leave behind in the carriage, and analyze the congestion of the carriage, achieving real-time transmission of detection and analysis results.

The train takes a number of sound insulation and noise reduction measures to effectively reduce the noise during operation. These measures include a double-layer aluminum alloy body, a phenolic floor with excellent sound insulation, air-tight piston-driven doors and auxiliary locking devices, a double-layer window glass filled with argon, a nano-sound absorbing material filled in the roof and side wall body cavity, and an optimized air conditioning air-outlet structure, etc. The manufacturers and designers of the carriages pay special attention to improving the hardware performance, optimizing the structural design, minimizing the noise in the car.

The train adopts a streamlined locomotive design, which focuses on improving the aerodynamic performance of the train and reducing the wind resistance. The subway train uses lightweight aluminum alloy material in the body, air conditioning unit, equipment box cover and other aspects to reduce the weight of the vehicle so as to realize the purpose of energy saving and emissions reduction.

The air conditioning system of Line 13 trains adopts frequency conversion technology, which further improves the energy efficiency. At the same time, the cabin lamp lighting is upgraded to LED lighting that can automatically adjust the brightness through comparing external natural light with the brightness in the car, further reducing the lighting energy consumption.

In terms of temperature control, the train's air-conditioning system uses a variable frequency compressor and a variable frequency ventilator, and provides an air quality monitoring module. That means it can precisely regulate the ventilation according to the changes in CO2 concentration and passenger capacity in the carriage. In terms of hardware equipment, the room is equipped with a 43-inch electronic map guide screen, a 28-inch LCD display, and a 27-inch electronic display, so passengers can access information through them conveniently.

Besides, based on ergonomics, the train has well-designed the passenger seat structure featuring optimized the curve of the seat back to provide a more comfortable traveling experience for passengers.

The train is designed in accordance with GOA4, the highest level of fully automatic driving, and it has a high-voltage system control platform for automatic driving that can realize intelligent diagnosis, automatic reset or isolation of faulty components, which can better adapt to the various automatic operating conditions.

In addition, the locomotive is equipped with passive obstacle detection and derailment detection device. So, when the train detects an obstacle on the track or encounters a derailment danger, it can automatically trigger the emergency brake to ensure safety to the greatest extent.

After being put into operation, Line 13 can effectively strengthen the connection between the Longquanyi district and the central city. It will connect some scenic spots such as Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Qingyang Palace, Happy Plum Woods, Three-Saint Flower Township, as well as some higher learning institutions, such as Sichuan University (Huaxi Campus), Sichuan Normal University (Shizishan Campus) and other universities.
