E-mail China.org.cn, November 28, 2023The General Administration of Customs recently issued 12 key measures to support the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. These measures focus on high-level opening up, the development of major industries, and optimizing the business environment.
Customs data shows that the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region saw its foreign trade increase by 1.1% year on year to about 4.12 trillion yuan (US$655.9 billion) in the first 10 months of 2023. This accounted for 12% of the national foreign trade during the same period.
The measures aim to better leverage opening up platforms, such as the Beijing Daxing International Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone and the pilot free trade zone in Beijing.
According to a person in charge at the General Administration of Customs, these measures will focus on emerging industries and key industries. They also aim to ensure the supply and stability of the industrial chain and supply chains for energy resources that are crucial to the nation and people's livelihood. These measures will be implemented by reinforcing customs supervision and collaboration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
To further optimize the business environment, the 12 measures will align with international standards and rules. Customs authorities in the three areas will also join hands to launch a special campaign that facilitates cross-border trade.
In addition, efforts will be made to increase cooperation on supervision and service among the three customs authorities in the region. These measures will support the relocation of key industries and central enterprises from the Chinese capital.
