Yanqing district in Beijing has witnessed a boom in the ice and snow industry in recent years, fostering public enthusiasm in winter sports by tapping into the rich heritage of the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Since Beijing won the bid for the Winter Olympics, Yanqing has transformed its winter assets into a lively winter sports economy.

This winter season, the Yanqing Olympic Zone has opened its world-class ski slopes to the public, allowing people to experience the same snow tracks as Olympic athletes. Additionally, the zone's major competition venues, including the National Alpine Skiing Center and National Sliding Center, has hosted a series of international and domestic winter sports events since the 2022 Winter Olympics, attracting thousands of top athletes from around the world.

Yanqing has been leveraging the legacy of the Winter Olympics into becoming a popular destination for ski enthusiasts. It also plans to develop a diverse and sustainable tourism industry that can attract visitors in all seasons, by merits of its natural beauty and cultural heritage.

For example, the district has kicked off various themed activities, such as events to enjoy ice lanterns, night tours of the Great Wall, home stay on New Year's Eve and during the Spring Festival.

Since the Yanqing Olympic Zone opened to the public in May 2022, it has received nearly 400,000 visitors.
