Beijing will introduce nearly 10,000 festival themed activities around the Chinese New Year holiday, the city announced at a press conference Monday.

Traditional temple fairs and festive activities will fully resume at major sites like Ditan Park and Longtan Park. Parks under municipal administration like the Summer Palace and Beihai Park will host over 80 activities, ranging from flower viewing to cultural performances.

Each district will offer unique folk activities like lantern festivals and riddles, inviting local residents and tourists alike to experience traditional folk customs.

According to the announcement at the press conference, over 2000 performances and 215 exhibitions will take place across the city's theaters and museums, showcasing Beijing's rich cultural heritage.

Most museums in Beijing will be open without reservation requirements, and they will offer a range of exhibitions and thematic tours linking cultural activities with leisure and shopping. Bookstores across Beijing will host literary events, and some will be open around the clock.

New landmarks in Beijing's sub-center like the Beijing Art Center, the Beijing City Library, and the Grand Canal Museum have already received nearly 600,000 visitors since they opened in December 2023. The Spring Festival holiday will see more activities and improved services like parking and guided tours.

The city vows to improve its public services during the holiday, including increased transportation around major destinations. The 12345 government service hotline will provide round-the-clock support to address public concerns and complaints.
