The 2024 National Consumption Promotion Month and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Consumption Season kicked off at Solana shopping center of Beijing's Chaoyang district Thursday night, with an aim to boost retail spending.

At the events' opening night, amid the vibrant lights and stunning decorations of the Solana shopping complex, a diverse array of sales promotions, cultural and sports performances, and interactive experiences attracted large crowds of residents eager to participate in the consumption and entertainment offerings.

The Ministry of Commerce has designated this year as the Year of Consumer Promotion, with this month's event focusing on trendy national products, aiming to encourage spending in areas such as fashion, smart home products, and seasonal snacks, and promoting an in-depth integration of commerce with travel, culture, sports, and health sectors.

Following the success of the inaugural Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Consumption Season last year, Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province are collaborating once again to spur consumer spending by pooling distinctive resources from business, culture, tourism, sports, and technology. During the campaign, merchants are rolling out joint consumer discount initiatives, focusing on promoting overnight and weekend travel in the region to deepen connections and meet the diversified needs of consumers.

Yin Li, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Beijing Municipal Committee, Wang Wentao, minister of commerce, Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and head of China Media Group, and Yin Yong, deputy secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and mayor of Beijing, attended the opening ceremony of the events.
