The Beijing Municipal Administrative Center celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development initiative with a themed press tour on Feb. 26.

The tour showcased the remarkable progress in Tongzhou district, the designated sub-center of Beijing, particularly in urban infrastructure expansion, public service improvements, and enhancements to residents' quality of life. It further highlighted the tangible benefits and increased happiness for the local community resulting from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development initiative.

Media representatives visited key sites, including the Beijing Sub-center Comprehensive Transportation Hub, the Tongzhou branch of Beijing Friendship Hospital, and the Tongzhou campus of Beijing No. 5 Middle School.

The sub-center's transport hub, a cornerstone project under the initiative, is set to transform regional connectivity. This massive underground complex, which integrates several intercity and urban rail lines, mainline railways, and bus services, began construction on Nov. 30, 2019. The main structure is expected to be completed by year's end. With its full opening scheduled for 2025, alongside the Beijing-Tangshan Intercity Railway Station, it is set to become the largest underground transportation hub in Asia.

Education and healthcare remain major areas of public interest. Jin Jingcong, a Tongzhou district local, reflected on the area's transformation, stating, "Over the years, my hometown has seen tremendous changes, transitioning from Tongxian county to Tongzhou district and now to Beijing's sub-center. Major Beijing hospitals have established branches here, significantly improving our access to medical care. Additionally, the number of renowned schools has increased, along with substantial enhancements in teaching facilities and the environment. As a resident, I feel immense pride and a strong sense of community."

The coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has notably benefited the sub-center, enhancing the well-being and prosperity of its residents. Looking ahead, the sub-center aims to further improve its functionality and service quality, setting a standard for regional collaboration and sustainable development.
