The Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport detailed its transportation work priorities for 2024 on Wednesday, announcing plans to optimize dedicated bus lanes within Beijing's Third Ring Road.
According to the plan, the city will streamline the management of its bus services and relocate bus depots to outlying areas, such as Wangjing and Liuliqiao West. The aim is to reduce traffic congestion in the city center and enhance operational efficiency.
Significant advancements in Beijing's transportation infrastructure are expected this year. The highly anticipated Chaoyang Station transportation hub is set to begin operation within the year. Moreover, the main structure of the comprehensive transportation hub in the city's sub-center is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
Additionally, the North Comprehensive Transportation Hub of Universal Beijing Resort, located on the north side of the area, is gearing up to offer convenient bus services to Universal Studios and its associated businesses upon opening. It will also cater to the daily commuting needs of residents in the surrounding areas.
Beijing's metro network is also poised for expansion this year with the planned launch of the first phase of Subway Line 3, Line 12, and the remaining three segments of the southern extension of the Changping Line. Together, these additions will extend the network by 45.3 kilometers, bringing the total operational length to over 880 kilometers.
